You just can't find stuff like this in the U.S. Coming from a country where anything written and published must have all sorts of copyright and infringement laws, it amazes me to see how much fan-work -- condoned fan-work, at that -- comes out of Japan. With the Internet getting cracked down upon on a regular basis, and even fan fiction sites starting to come down for fear of plagiarism, it's nice to see a medium of fan-produced art coming out of Japan on a regular basis.
What can I say? I'm hooked. If it's an anime, there's more than likely doujinshi for it to be found somewhere. Even popular western series, such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Harry Potter, are out there in doujinshi form. In my own doujinshi hunts, I tend to focus upon the odd, more non-canon couples, as I do in my fan fiction, because, hey... normal is boring.
